NFL Week 5:
Patriots vs Buccaneers
Date: October 5, 2017
Time: 8:25pm ET on NFL Network
Venue: Raymond James Stadium.
New England, of course, has had an amazing run under Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, who both
came to the Patriots in 2000. They’ve won at least 10 games every year since 2003 and have missed
the playoffs just once — in 2008, when Brady missed all but one game with injury and they still
went 11-5. Since the Bucs’ last playoff win in the Super Bowl in January 2003, the Patriots have
won 22 playoff games, including four Super Bowls.
— New England has not only won three straight meetings with the Bucs, they’ve done it by a combined
score of 86-10, each one by at least 20 points. If it seems like the Patriots have played more
recently in Tampa, it’s because they’ve been a frequent preseason opponent, facing the Bucs five times
in Tampa from 2001-12 — New England even held joint practices with the Bucs in Tampa before their
preseason meeting in 2012, and again in Foxborough in 2013.
